Bundeena Kayaks is a family owned and managed business, run by Bruce and Marnie Sigal. Both Bruce and Marnie are passionate about enjoying and caring for our lovely planet, both on a local and global level. Bruce is born and bred in the Shire, has explored every last track and trail in the Royal National Park and has been a waterman on the Port Hacking River, and  since before he could crawl. Marnie has lived in the area for 30 years and is a qualified Marine Biologist, with a Bachelor of Science, Marine Major and 12 years experience working in the field.

Their love of nature and the waterway and desire to share their knowlege with others, was the inspriration behind establishing Bundeena Kayaks back in 2000. The very core of our business is to provide ecologically sustainable activities, protect and share information about the natural and cultural values of the area including the rich Aboriginal history. 

We have developed a diverse range of unique, environmentally sensitive, enjoyable and safe visitor experiences for Sydney-siders, locals and International guests, designed provide opportunities for them to appreciate and enjoy nature as well as to develop their knowlege and awareness about Port Hacking River and Royal National Park.

At the very heart of our business is a love and care for our beautiful environment.Below are some of the initiaves that we have in place to help to preserve and protect the river and surrounding Royal National Park, the surrounding communities and the planet as a whole. Many may seem small and insignificant, however remember it’s the small things that count!

Bundeena Kayaks has Advanced Eco Accreditation

Bundeena Kayaks holds Advance Ecotourism accrediation from Eco Tourism Australia. This means we have worked hard to provide high quality, innovative and minimal impact experiences with opportunities for developing knowledge, awareness and appreciation of nature. We are committed to providing excellent customer service and safe operating standard as well as achieving best practice in our care for the environment, using resources wisely, contributing to conserving the environment and supporting local communities and businesses

  • Leave No TraceWe follow and teach the 7 ‘Leave No Trace” principles of environmental care, which we mention on our tours and also display a sign at our base (see detail below)
  • Protecting and Conserving Natural and Cultural Features WildlifeWe never touch or disturb wildlife and encourage customers to do likewise. We work closely with local bird conservationist to protect endangered birdlife. We never allow customers to bring domestic pets along (we get asked regularly)
  • Eco Education Programs for School GroupsWe have been running nature based paddling activities with school groups since 2000 and offer eco focussed activity programs aligned with the high school curriculum marine and pass classes
  • R & R – Rubbish and Recycling!As well as being known as the local rubbish collecting warriors, we are also passionate about purchasing and supplying products with minimal packaging on our food included tours. We always recycle and have a recycle box at our base
  • Hat in the BoxRather than selling hats – we have a Borrow at Hat Box. This cuts down on unnecessary purchasing and waste
  • Water Refill StationWe encourage our customers to BYO reusable water bottle and have a water refill container at our base
  • Minimal Impact ActivitiesOur activities and our operation have been chosen and are managed so as to cause neglible or no disturbance to the natural environment or other users.
  • Australian MadeWe always aim to source Australian made gear where possible. Our entire fleet of kayaks are made in Australia by Australis Canoes – another small Australian family business.
  • Community SupportersEach year we donate $1000’s worth of vouchers to local community groups and charities. We also are great believers in shopping and using the services in our local area and offer employment opportunities for locals
  • Helping with ComplianceWe have a long history of working with Maritime and Fisheries to report illegal boating and fishing activities
  • PartneringWe have a long history of forming valuable and rewarding partnerships with other activity providers. In particular we work with a number of adventure groups, schools and universities to offering our paddling adventures to enchance their packaged actvities
  • Respecting OthersWe respect other users of natural areas for example we make sure our gear doesn’t block any access, we don’t play music or cause

Open 7 days & Flexible Bookings

We’re open 7 days most of the year around, to fit in with your busy schedules and it’s fine to book on the day or just show up without a booking! (just check with us first to make sure weather is favourable).

 Our guided kayak tours provide opportunities to learn about the natural and cultural features of the area. We specialised in small, personalised tours that are led by qualified mrine and terrestrial experts

Family Operated

Bundeena Kayaks was started up by Bruce and Marnie Sigal back in 2001. Since then they have had 2 children who have both joined the crew! All the family share a love for the great outdoors and protecting our treasured environment
